The Story Behind the Coach


I grew up in Alabama, the kind of place where life moves slowly but expectations run deep. I was an athlete — football, basketball, track — and a musician. I played trombone for four years and sang in church, and looking back, music was more than a hobby. It was therapy. It was the place I went when words weren't enough.


I lost my mother when I was 16. There was no roadmap for that kind of grief. What I had was sports, music, faith — and a quiet but burning curiosity about life that told me there was something bigger out there waiting for me.


I knew I was different. I knew Alabama wasn't my final destination. So I left and never looked back.


A Life Built on Helping Others


For fourteen years I served as a minister. Those years gave me something no degree ever could — the deep understanding of what it means to sit with someone in their most vulnerable moments and help them find their way through.


But life has a way of testing everything. When I was excommunicated for being gay I lost my community, my identity, and had to rebuild from the ground up. I reinvented myself — building a career in hospitality, and spending fifteen years as a cabaret performer writing my own shows and booking engagements across the country.


Finding Purpose in the Pause


Then COVID came. Everything vanished overnight. And in the silence that followed I heard something I had been missing — the call to give back. Love brought me to Palm Springs and Palm Springs became the place where everything finally came together.


I went back to school, earned my bachelor's in psychology and then my Master's in Performance Psychology. Peak Performance & Wellness was born from every loss, every reinvention, every time I had to dig deep and find a way forward to achieve my dreams.
